Which hardware is better for GM SPS programming?

I buy online SPS programming, connect via j2534. VIN reading OK, but when I try program no matter which module I have E4399 error.
Abrites j2534 won’t work with SPS GDS2 and car from 2014 I think. I need to buy MDI multiple diagnostic interface or something else?
Just information for you to make a wise purchase of GM scan tools for SPS programming: (here, I focus on SPS GDS2 on Abrites j2534 and GM MDI)
In the past ( few years ago when I bought my AVDI )
When I bought my tool I used Global Tis v32 and was able to do SPS Programming in my Y20DTH that I have at my desk for tests. All went OK.
After a while during a year of AMS I received the new drivers but because I didn’t like how the AVDI is working and because I make some money using it I dece to upgrade to genuine OEM tool for the brands that AVDI can work.
After a while I bought a genuine MDI.
And after years I did the tests because my friend who has a issue doing SPS Programming. And he asked me to check if its ok at me. And using same ecu that I did SPS Programming alright in the past then now was blocked. So I did and had the same issues as him.
He because has the AMS he received the new drivers after he talked with Abrites company.
For me AVDI its did it job long time ago and I don’t need to buy a new AMS. So I am using when I do what “she” can do.
My friend asked Abrites to fix this issue and they sent to him new drivers versions and then he could do a SPS Programming as well.
But take care this is not working in any ecu.
So my advise for you is to buy a good GM MDI but not VXDIAG VCX Nano and you will be fine.
In my opinion for GM cars and if you wanna do SPS Programming and diagnostics using Tech2win and GDS2 the better is a GM MDI – a genuine or good clone one, or a cheaper cable like a genuine or good clone Mongoose GM Pro2
Or a J2534 tool that its approved by GM.
Maybe for diagnostic AVDI is still good but for programming it will not for sure. But if you wish it you can use it and when you will block first ecu you will remember my opinion.
AVDI I hadn’t used anymore for diagnostic so I cannot tell you if its ok to use it in newer car with GDS2. Actually I have no new drivers for a long.
I just want to show you my experience and tell you my opinion. The decision is yours.

That is,
If you want to do ECU programming or SPS programming, you’d better have a GM MDI interface with Global TIS.
If you need program new keys (only online with GDS2 and Tech2win), it depends.
If you have a new car or pickup truck after the year 2010, you have 3 options: MDI interface, Mangoose cable, Nano;
If you have an old car or pickup truck, you have one more option, Tech 2. That is, 4 options for the old GM vehicles: MDI, Mangoose, Nano and Tech 2.
If you want to have a diagnostic test on GM vehicles, you can have any tool with GDS2 or Tech2win or TIS2000. Clearly, all tools above can be used for GM diagnosis.

Known issue
In Tech Tool 2.7.25, there is a known issue for operation 36652-3/3665-07-03-04 ‘Forward looking sensor, calibration’, selection B on road calibration. This issue affects the following products;

2010 Dodge Grand Caravan PCM Programming with wiTech

How-to: 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan used pcm swap with OEM wiTech and Micropod 2 VCI.  The program is WiTech 2.0. Replaced WiTech 1.0 requires a secure Micropod 2, active License to use WiTech 2.0 attached to your Micropod and active subscription to FCA Tech Authority.
Note: wiTech Micropod2 clone will program new PCM on Chrysloer vehicles if you have online account. For used PCM swap, you need luck.

4-digit pin code (you can pull pin by OBD2 based device, like Autek ikey820 or Xtool X100 PAD2, both work great on Chrysler group)
The PIN entered was the 4 digit secret key code. When the PCM was replaced on this vehicle theres a 4 digit key code (security related) that needs to be transferred from the WCM to installed PCM. There is a function tab on WiTech 2.0 under the WCM miscellaneous functions that is “PCM Replaced” WiTech checks the ignition status then the 4 digit key code is entered WiTech verifies the correct pin code was entered then transfers the PIN to the PCM allowing the PCM and WCM to shake hands for a lack of better terminology and allowing the vehicle to start and run. For the PCM Replaced Function the Correct Vehicle VIN is checked as well.
In wiTech software, select WCM (Wireless Control Module)->Misc Function->PCM Replaced
Use this function ONLY wehn the PCM has been replaced.
Enter the Vehicle PIN and confirm
Login to server with your online account
Current VIN in the WCM/WIN is 2D4RN4DE0AR303795. To update the current VIN in the PCM press continue
Write VIN success
Transfter of secret key successful. Cycle ignition key prior to starting the vehicle.
Go back to module selection menu,
select PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

Check DTCs and erase DTC stored
Select PCM->Flash, witech display ECU status “Out of Date”
Press the option to run the rountine

Just spent way too much time on a 2002 VW Passat wagon.
Pulled the pin with the 820 under type 1. Wouldn’t program until I removed the after market radio. This was to add a key. With the radio in the keys were deleted and wouldn’t go back in. But the good news for the 820 is that the TCode wouldn’t pull the pin with the radio on or out. And wouldn’t communicate either.

Vas 5054a and odis 4.4.10 Error Solution

Here is my story of Odis 4.4.10.
Vas 5054a and odis 4.4.10:
One of my 2 vas5054a has original amb2300 but does not work with odis-s 4.4.10.
I get a ODS2522E that hardware is not supported. (same as the one without original amb2300)
I have tested amb2300 with softing edic configuration manager. Also tested with PDU api application. All tests ok. Configurator manager did not work with vas5054a without amb2300

Then, tested working PDU api and tried to solves the issue however I am not happy with the result. In theory original amb2300 should work.
Tests:1. 1.20.41 does not work at all with either of my 2 interfaces. So back to 1.20.42
2. Enabled buzzer just to check that my amb2300 is original. Enabled.
3. Tried to connect with bluetooth (amb2300 interface). Laptop connected successfully. Tried to connect odis-s with car and started buzzing continuously and then an error appeared, buzz continued.

I am ditching odis-4.4.10.
Before 4.2.3 test will test 4.3.3 to check if that works, in order to check if the problem is hardware or software.
Then i was advised to make another folder Softing.ori  put ther new Pdu:




Did not work but good try. That made me think that PDU API is the problem.
However found out that VW has locked the D-PDU API directory location (or file names) and managed to install at the 1.20.042 location the 1.20.041 pdu api and renamed 3 files to …..1.20.042 (2 xml 1 dll same as DPDU api test application 3 files mentioned).
now it works, actually tested just vas5054a with fake bluetooth and works.
This is not a straight forward procedure, however after manipulation of D-pdu api (1.20.042 vecom, the 3 files) odis 4.4.10 works.
My amb2300 is original since I have downgraded it to 1.20.041 firmware (with the D-PDU API) test application) however it does not work out of the box with odis 4.4.10. Will test the second one tomorrow.
My conclusion:
First, that pdu api directory (file name) is locked.
Second, amb2300 original does  not work as tested. (problem with 1.20.042 pdu API driver specifically Softing/1.20.042/VeCom/VAS5054a files as seen in second solution below).
Other solutions:
1. Test the PDU API 1.20.042 found in odis 4.3.3 (check pdu_api_root.xml is correct 1.20.042)
2. Want to test original 1.20.042 but to replace in vecom vas5054 folder from 1.20.041 folder. (No other changes, check again pdu_api_root.xml is for 1.20.042 )
Test performed:1. Tested second vas5054a with original amb2300. All tests with usb and bluetooth pass with first solution above. Note in this test I used amb2300 firmware 1.20.041 since I used pdu api 1.20.041 renamed folder to 1.20.042 and 3 files to 1.20.042 as discussed above. Bluetooth works too.
2. Second solution tested with original amb2300. (not tested with clone but most probably will work)
b) reinstall pdu api 1.20.042 pdu api
b) Replace vas5054 folder (from 1.20.041) in softing/1.20.042/vecom/vas5054.
c) update amb2300 firmware to 1.20.042 (this is the difference from solution 1) since I used pdu api 1.20.042.
d) Both usb and bluetooth work. Amazing… I have original amb2300 (but with fake serial number).
For newbies, i suggest tested odis from a reliable source:

No need search for launcher, license…and NEVER expired
It’s tested 100% by real pros and confirmed to work no issues
Also, remote help can be got if you have any issue of installation

FVDI Commander for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep

ABRITES Commander for Crysler, Dodge and Jeep is a software intended for learning of keys and Mileage Recalibration of these vehicles. Basic diagnostics of all control units, including, but not limited to Engine, Instrument Panel Cluster, Skim, Electronic Transmission Control. Pin code extraction from SKIM dump for older vehicles.

Hold two buttons marked red above at the same time.
Delete current APK V2.1
After uninstall Lonsdor K518 APK successfully, click the arrow in the middle of the screen.
There is a new version APK v2.26 available to update
Kernel mirror image version under V2.26 needs to follow this step. Press Update Online on the bottom left.
Install the package after downloading. It might take a long tome, please be patient. After installation, there are “WIFI Setting” and “Update”, just click “Update”. if you failed to update, change a network or change the domain name according to the file of “WIFI Setting”.

INLINE 5, 6, and 7 adapters may intermittently lose communication. If your Datalink adapter has communication problems, disconnect power from the adapter for 5 seconds and then reconnect. The INSITE program does not need to be shutdown.
There is a feature under Tools > Reset Datalink Adapter that may correct some software communication errors with the INLINE 5, 6, and 7.
The main harness (backbone) has a maximum overall length of 40 meters.
A J1939 stub, which can be a connection point for ECM’s and/or the INLINE 5, 6, and 7 Datalink adapter, cannot exceed a maximum length of 1 meter.
At each end of the backbone harness is a terminating resistor with a nominal resistance of 120 Ohms, it will measure 60 Ohms when you measure across the Datalink.
The INLINE 5, 6, and 7 adapters should be connected to a continuous battery power supply. When making adjustments with INSITE, including calibration download, the operator will be asked to switch the key off. If the adapter is getting its power from a power source dependent on the key switch status, such as the lighter adapter inside the cab, the adapter will lose power, which will result in INSITE losing connection to the ECM. This will require the operator to reconnect to the ECM and the adjustments might not have been saved.

If the display becomes distorted or cannot be completely viewed, close the Advanced ECM Data window and then reopen it. Resizing the window can cause the view to become distorted.

Automotive applications will have a default setting of “ON” for the Save and Restore option in the Calibration Download dialog.
Industrial applications will have a Default Setting of “OFF” for the Save and Restore option in the Calibration Download dialog.
When performing a Calibration Download, the “Save and Restore” option may be grayed out for some applications.
To decrease calibration download times, please insure that all applications other than INSITE are closed. Always use the J1939 protocol and engine connector when available.
Computers with less than the minimum recommended hardware requirements will have an extended Calibration Download time. Screen savers and suspend modes should be disabled
6 Display Graphics
The use of Large Toolbar Buttons will not display all icons on the toolbar. Work Around: Under Tools > Options > General, select Small Buttons in Display Options.
Dual Monitors are not supported by INSITE.
To disable the “Display Feature Names” option for the view bar, uncheck the box in Tools > Options > General > Viewbar > Display Feature Names.
If your PC monitor display is set to “Large Fonts”, some information in INSITE may not be displayed. It is recommended to use small fonts.
7 ECM Diagnostic Tests
If the display becomes distorted or cannot be completely viewed, close the ECM Diagnostic Tests window and then reopen it. Resizing the window can cause the view to become distorted.
8 Fault Codes
The MIL Lamp Status is not displayed when printing the Image Fault Codes in Tool Display Format.
Work Around: Print the Image Fault Codes in Text Only Format or connect to the image, open Fault Codes and select the Print icon.
9 Printing
When using print preview, use the tool bar magnifying glass to display the text in a larger view. The Print options will be disabled when no printers are available. This includes the Page Setup, Print and Print Preview options. Work around: Setup/install a printer on the PC and retry the INSITE print selection.
10 Simulators
Values shown in simulator do not reflect real values that would be seen when connected to an engine.
11 INSITE Integrated Simulator – Single and Multi-Module
All simulators for the 2007 models and above were combined into one single simulator called INSITE Integrated Simulator – Single Module and INSITE Integrated Simulator – Multi-Module. These will display all the Features and Parameters, ECM Diagnostic Tests, and Advanced ECM Data that is supported for single and multimodule engines.
12 Work Orders/ECM Images/Templates
Double clicking on the exported image files (.csv format) will not open them with the correct format in Microsoft Excel. Work around: Follow the steps below to open an exported (.csv format) image file in Excel:
  1. Open the .csv image file with Microsoft Excel
  2. Highlight column A
  3. Click on Data > Text to Columns
  4. In Step 1 of the wizard, make sure the “Delimited” option is selected and click “Next”
  5. In step 2 of the wizard, uncheck the “Tab” box and check the “Comma” box and click “Next”
  6. In step 3 of the wizard, click on “Finish”
  7. Format columns as desired.

Alternatively, select the “Export All” from the right-click menu while highlighting any Image.
When using templates, it is recommended to verify the first template sent to the target vehicle. This helps ensure the template configuration is correct for subsequent vehicles.
When using templates, verify that the ECM code is compatible or the same.
When naming images and templates, special characters cannot be used (i.e. & ^, etc.).

“tab_index=1” seems the key to make jbox2 especially. Another thing is that you don’t need change the name of Jbox2 folder to nissan_VI2. Just copy the name of device (in this case “J-Box 2″) and paste to the vi_device_name in INI file. so it gonna be vi_device_name-J-Box 2”. That is it. At the first time, I changed the name of the folder in regedit, and errors showed. Now, automatically consult3 recognized jbox2 and vin number now. Only DTC and clear codes were detected though so far. I did not dig deeper yet.
For KTS570, it is pretty much same as jbox2. The difference is that I wrote “tab_index=4” instead of ‘1’. You also need update the firmware through esi. Otherwise, consult3 did not recognize.

From the main menu, open the drop-down and select the eeprom xtra menu
Select the vehicle make, model and year
Select the correct immo
Eeprom reference: 93c56 8pin 256 bytes (default)
Compare your immobilizer with pictures in the software
Upload the file extracted from the eeprom memory and create a new original key
Select the correct vehicle to proceed
Check the desired vehicle is in the result list
Calculating: checking
Copying: receiving write command
Insert TK40/TK100/GK100/CK100
Insert the key with the required transponder in the Keyline 884 decryptor mini device

Reading key…

Key copy completed
